Message From Sh. Manikant Prasad Singh

Sh. Manikant Prasad Singh has worked in Punjab for last 33 years. He joined Indian Administrative Services in 1986 and had his training in Jalandhar district during 1987-1988. After that, he worked as Sub Divisional Magistrate at Nakodar (Jalandhar district) and then as Additional Deputy Commissioner at Abohar (then Ferozepur district) and in Bathinda district. Thereafter, he had a tenure as Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner in the Excise Department at Patiala.

He joined as Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, in November 1995, and worked there till July 1998. After completion of the field tenure, he worked as Managing Director, Punjab Sugarfed and then came on deputation to Union Territory, Chandigarh, as Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh from July 1999 to December 2004. Thereafter, he worked as Secretary in the Higher Education Department, Local Government, the Department of Science and Technology, Environment and Renewable Energy and the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training.

Thereafter, he joined as Secretary to Governor Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, in December 2007 and worked there till June 2017 with four Governors. After getting promoted as Additional Chief Secretary, he worked in the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, Department of Forest and Department of Excise and Taxation till he retired on 31st December, 2019, as Additional Chief Secretary, Government.

After retirement from Indian Administrative Services, he has been appointed as Hon’ble Member of Punjab State Commission for NRIs for three years and is working here since, 7th February, 2020.
